Platform overview

Optimizely's AI layer is Opal, an agent-orchestration platform spanning Optimizely One: 50+ pre-built agents, no-code agent building, workflow orchestration, knowledge integration, quality evaluation and human-in-the-loop review.

In experimentation, Opal supplies AI variation generation, test-idea suggestions, variation summaries and Opal Chat. Optimizely reports that 58.74% of Opal usage is experimentation, across 47,000 interactions at 900 companies. Q3 2026 added image generation and editing, Voice Mode, Brand and Channel Packs, Virtual Teammates and human-in-the-loop approval checkpoints.

Two MCP servers are now exposed: Experimentation (exp_* tools for query, manage and SDK implementation) and Analytics (oa_* tools for discovery, exploration building and scorecard analysis). Both authenticate over OAuth through Opti ID/Opal.

Contextual bandits remain the personalization mechanism, optimizing the primary metric per user from attributes rather than picking one global winner.
