Personalization tool
Braze
Cross-channel messaging platform (push, email, SMS, in-app, WhatsApp, and more) that orchestrates sends off real-time customer behavior.
The vendor’s claim
In-app messages and Content Cards are not counted as or toward caps on campaigns or Canvas components of any type.Source
Where it’s strong
- Consolidates 8 channels (email, mobile push, web push, SMS/RCS, WhatsApp, LINE, KakaoTalk, digital ads via Audience Sync) into one orchestration layer
- Frequency capping works across the whole customer, not per-channel. Caps can apply to email, push, SMS, and webhooks together
- Behavior-triggered orchestration: real-time customer behaviors and cross-channel interactions can dictate the next message
Where it runs out
- In-app messages and Content Cards are explicitly excluded from frequency capping per Braze's own docs. The two most product-native channels are the ones you can least throttle
- Caps reset on calendar days, not rolling 24-hour windows, so a user can get capped messages at 11pm and again an hour later
- At high volume (100+ messages/channel), frequency capping by tag may not enforce reliably. Braze recommends a weekly volume cap as a backstop
Best for
App-led products that can fire messages off real product-usage events, not just marketing list membership.
Questions before you buy more of it
- Since in-app and Content Cards sit outside frequency caps, how do we prevent stacking those with capped channels for the same user?
- Are our events clean and real-time enough to trigger next-best-action messaging, or are we really just doing batch segmentation with a Braze wrapper?
