Personalization opportunity
They're browsing. Nothing says this is for people like them.
Put proof for people like them where they're looking.
Step 1 · Signals
What do we know about this person?
Connected
Category or PDP views, no cart, plus a known or inferred use context.
Example eligibility rule
Require at least two detail views within the same use context, such as compact travel products, plus one supporting behavior such as a relevant filter or comparison. Use cohort proof only when the referenced cohort has a verified attribute and enough completed purchases or reviews to support the claim.
Step 2 · The need
What’s really going on?
Category, PDP, or pricing grid. Reviews, returns, "used by teams like yours" sit below the fold or on a different page. They are deciding whether this is even in the right neighborhood. The average proof is for someone else.
Avoid this assumption
A star rating is not proof for their size, job, or use. "People like you bought this" has to be true.
Step 3 · Worth it?
Do the math before you build.
Confidence belongs where they are looking, not in a trust-badge strip. For example, a first-time parent browsing travel strollers could see a verified review from another parent who tested the stroller on public transit, plus the return policy beside it.
Reach
How many eligible people can you reach in the chosen channel and time period?
Cost
What will content, delivery, QA and ongoing maintenance cost?
Return
What incremental outcome would cover that cost, and what is it worth?
Planning inputs, not measured results. Estimate reach × incremental outcome rate × value per outcome, then subtract cost. Use a range and a consistent time period.
Step 4 · The response
Pick how you help.
Example format: Content
Proof module on the category or PDP framed for their segment.
Compare lighter and deeper responses
Choose the lightest response that solves the need.
Assist: Offer useful help
Keep the grid. Surface one relevant review or return line in the existing card.
Adapt: Change a meaningful part
Proof module on the category or PDP framed for their segment.
Transform: Tailor the journey
Reorder the set and proof around the known need, such as travel strollers tested on public transit, with a way back to the full catalog.
What to watch out for
- Inventing a "people like you" set from one pageview.
- Hiding the catalog behind a segment story.
- Using enterprise logos on a page a 12-person team is browsing.
Step 5 · The moment
Did it help? A/B test it.
Control
Default category or PDP.
Treatment
In-place proof for the session's segment, with a holdout.
Success measure
Add-to-cart or demo start from that listing.
Guardrail
Wrong-segment complaints and "not for me" exits.
Among visitors who qualified for the same inferred use context, compare matched proof with generic proof. Track progression and "not relevant" interactions so a persuasive result is not hiding a bad inference.
Win or lose, record what worked, for whom and why. What you learn becomes the next signal.
Tools that can deliver the response

As of April 2026 it relaunched as an AI GTM agent, expanding beyond the original website-personalization product.
Try the framework on another situation
The logos and quotes are for a different kind of company. Put proof from companies like theirs on the first screen.
The cart is full. They still won't pay. Put delivery, returns, and a reason to trust next to pay.
Work through it in the hub
Score your personalization program, explore more customer situations, and compare the tools that can deliver them.
